MIDÕES (TÁBUA)

Midões is a Portuguese parish in the municipality of Tábua, with an area of 19.98 km² and 1574 inhabitants (2021 census). Its population density is 78.8 inhabitants/km².
It was a town and county seat, with a new charter in 1514. It was made up until the beginning of the 19th century by the parishes of the seat and Póvoa de Midões. In 1801, it had 2035 inhabitants and 29 km². Later, the parishes of Candosa, Covas and Vila Nova de Oliveirinha were annexed. In 1849 it had 6282 inhabitants and 63 km². The Council was suppressed in 1853.
