Montemor-o-Velho is a Portuguese village in the District of Coimbra, a statistical region of the Center and inter-municipal community of Coimbra, with about 25,000 inhabitants. It is situated at an average altitude of 5 m above average sea level.




It is the seat of a municipality with an area of 228.62 km² and 25,478 inhabitants (2001), subdivided into 14 parishes. The municipality is bounded to the north by the municipalities of Cantanhede, to the east by Coimbra and Condeixa-a-Nova, to the south by Soure and to the west by Figueira da Foz.
